From wild swimming to bike rides, see what owners dream of doing with their pets

Taking your four-legged friend on an exciting adventure is a great way to bond. From hiking up mountains to wild swimming, half of UK dog owners have a 'bucket list' of memorable experiences they dream of sharing with their pet. Do you?

According to a study of 2,000 dog owners commissioned by Forthglade, 32% said their canine companion is their adventure buddy, while 45% explained that having a dog makes them feel less lonely when out and about. In fact, a further 29% admitted one of the reasons they got a dog was to encourage more outdoor adventures.

Some of the top bucket list adventures for pups and owners include travelling on a road trip, watching a sunset, attending a dog yoga class, swimming in the sea and going on a bike ride. With trips abroad back on the agenda, the study also found that owners want to explore a new city with their dogs, hike a mountain and relax on a boat tour.

"With dog ownership increasing substantially over the last few years, it's great to see our canine companions encouraging us to get outdoors more, experiencing adventures together," David Cox, CEO at Forthglade, says.

"Adding adventures on top of the daily dog walk is hugely beneficial to the health and wellbeing of both us and our dogs - and can really boost a nourishing relationship together, which in turn increases our levels of happiness. Dogs are ideal teachers when it comes to sniffing out adventures and sharing endless excitement along the way."
